At the Pond at Wilson Park.  Prizes will be awarded.

Contestants must register and be ready to fish at 12:45pm with his/her own fishing pole.

GOLDEN FALCON BASEBALL CAMP

Linden Department of Public Property and Community Services is once again proud to present the Golden Falcon Baseball Camp in Linden. The dates of the camp are Monday, July 19th to Thursday, July 22nd (Rain Date, Friday, July 23rd.) The times for each day are 9:00am – 2:00pm. The camp will be held at the Edward Flanagan Little League Complex, So. Stiles Street in Linden. The camp is for boys and girls who will be completing grades K-8 during the 2009-2010 school year.

The Golden Falcon Baseball Camp will be starting its 12th year of developing youth in the game of Baseball. The camp has multiple locations throughout Northern New Jersey. This is the second year of having the baseball camp in Linden.

The camp is under the direction of Ed Ward, the Former Assistant Baseball Coach at Division I New Jersey Institute of Technology. Coach Ward recently completed his 28th season of coaching on the College & High School levels. Quality instruction will be given by Coach Ward’s Staff and Former Players along with top High School Coaches from Northern New Jersey.

Every camper will receive a T-Shirt, a camp certificate, and a written evaluation on their performance for the week. The camp offers special awards for the campers that will be given throughout the four days of camp.

The Linden Department of Public Property  & Community Services Is offering Summer Basketball Leagues for Linden Residents Only For:

LITTLE KICKERS FALL SOCCER
 

The Linden Department of Public Property and Community Services has announced that the Little　 Kickers Fall Soccer Clinic has been planned for Linden girls and boys, ages 4 & 5 and will be held on 5 consecutive Saturdays: September 18, 25 ---October 2, 9, 16, at Al Kalla Park from 10:00am to11:00am. Registration deadline -- Sept. 11, 2010 at a cost of $25.00 per child.  Payment may be made by cash, check, money order, Visa or Master Card.  Sign ups are on a first come, first serve basis as the clinic is limited to 60 youngsters. You can register at the Community Center Building at 605 So. Wood Ave., or the John T. Gregorio Center at 330 Helen St. or at the Linden Multi Purpose Center at 1025 John Street. FALL SOCCER LEAGUE 2010

The 2010 Fall Soccer League is open to Linden Girls and Boys in the following manner: The Minor Division is for girls and boys ages 6 – 7. The Junior Division for ages 8 – 10. League play will begin on Saturday, September 18, 2010 and continue through the playoffs.

Registration deadline is Sept.10, 2010. The cost: $45.00 per youngster. Payment may be made by cash, check, money order, Visa or Master Card. 2010 FALL INTER-COUNTY SOCCER LEAGUE

EXERCISE ROOM

The Exercise Room at the Gregorio Center is open to Linden adults, Monday-Friday, 7:00am to 4:30pm.  All participants should consult with a physician prior to use and are required to complete a waiver form.  Residents must be 18 years of age or older.  Call the Center at 474-8627 for further information.   There is a $10.00 fee. Senior Citizens are free.

BOATING SAFETY CERTIFICATION COURSE

The Linden Department of Public Property & Community Services is sponsoring a one day boat safety certification course, approved by the U.S. Coast Guard, on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at the John T. Gregorio Recreation Center, 330 Helen St., Linden, NJ.  beginning at 8:00am. The course takes eight hours to complete.  This includes break and exam time, so bring your lunch.

Registration fee is $75.00 and you must register by April 9, 2010 at one of Linden’s Recreation Centers:

Each registered individual will receive a study book, and will be required to take an examination at the end of the course.  Upon attaining a passing grade, a Boating Safety Certificate for the State of New Jersey and the NASBLA will be issued.

The course instructor has been teaching boat safety courses for the past eightteen

years and has a Master United States Coast Guard Merchant Marine License for near coastal waters.  He and the course have been approved by the N.J. State Police and the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators.

WOODSHOP STUDIO

A fully equipped woodshop is available to Linden senior citizens on Monday and Tuesday mornings from 9:00am to 12:00 noon, at the Gregorio Recreation Center. Safety instructions will be given on the proper use of various machinery, such as table saw, drill press, jigsaw, etc. Class size is limited. Call the Gregorio Center at 474-8627 to register.

Woodcarving is taught on Wednesday mornings from 9:00am to 12:00 noon. Participants learn woodcarving, whittling, and wood chipping techniques. Class size is limited.

ICE SKATING

Weather permitting, ice skating will be held at the following locations: Wilson Park and Andrew Beno's Pond at Veterans Memorial Park.

CHILDREN’S CERAMIC CLASSES

Classes apply to students Kindergarten through 8^th grade.  One class is available (6:00pm – 7:00pm).  These are one day projects held at the Gregorio Recreation Center, 330 Helen St., Linden.  Registration fee is $10.00 per class.  Classes are limited to 35 participants on a first come, first serve basis.  Call 908-474-8627 for further information.

KNITTING/CROCHETING  FOR A CAUSE

Do you have free time that you would like to donate to a worthy cause?  Would you like to meet new friends?  All ages – young adults through senior citizens.  We have formed a group with a basic knowledge of knitting and crocheting, to make lap blankets for veteran and nursing homes. 

Feel free to stop in any Tuesday – 10:00am – 12:00 noon.

SOCIAL CLUBS

Social Clubs begin meeting monthly in September to plan socials, holiday parties and trips to points of interest.

Ceramic Club - meets every other month September through May, 1st Thursday at 7:00pm. Workshop meets every 3rd Thursday at the John T. Gregorio Recreation Center, 330 Helen Street.

Tuesday Social Club - meets 2nd Tuesday at 12:45pm at Sunnyside Recreation Center.

Linden Sunshine Social Club - meets 2nd Thursday
at 12:30pm at Wilson Park Recreation Center

Fun & Friendship Club - meets 2nd Tuesday at 1:00pm at Wilson Park Recreation Center.

Art Association - Painting workshops are held on Thursdays, 7:30 pm, at the Sunnyside Recreation Center. Open to all interested painters. Call the Gregorio Center for further information.

GIRL SCOUT & BROWNIE TROOP MEETINGS

Brownie Troop 104 and Junior Troop 217 meet every Tuesday evening, 6:30pm - 7:30pm,  and the Cadette and Senior Troop 628 meet every other Thursday evening, 6:00pm - 7:00pm, at the Linden Multi-Purpose Center, 1025 John Street, Linden. If interested, please call 474-8639.  We need volunteers too!
 

DR. KING COMMEMORATIVE MEETINGS

The Dr. King Commemorative meetings will be held at the Linden Multi-Purpose Center, at 7:00pm, on the third Thursday of each month.

HANDICAPPED PROGRAM

BOWLING will begin on Saturday, November 3^rd at Jersey Lanes from 1:00pm to 2:00pm.

SWIMMING will begin on Sunday, November 4^th at the Rahway YMCA from 1:00pm to 2:00pm.
