On August 20, 2012 at
12:09 AM officers Jason Mohr and Michael Cistaro were on patrol when
they stopped a SUV with tinted windows on the 200 block of W. St. George
Ave. While speaking to the driver, they smelled marijuana and asked the
driver to step out of the vehicle. When the driver opened the door, the
officers observed a handgun laying on the passenger floorboard of the
vehicle. Two passengers were then ordered out of the vehicle. The
officers seized a .40 caliber Sig Sauer semi-automatic and also a second
gun, a .38 caliber Smith and Wesson revolver, also on the floorboard,
both of which were loaded with ammunition. The rear seat passenger,
identified as Darren C. Blair, age 32, of Plainfield, was searched and
found to be in possession of a .25 caliber Titan semi-automatic handgun
loaded with 6 rounds in his pants pocket. The driver, Lamar T.
Henderson, age 26, also of Plainfield, and passenger Mustafa I. Toney,
age 21, of North Plainfield, were arrested and each person was charged
two counts of possession of a handgun, and receiving stolen property
(the Smith & Wesson gun was reported stolen from Bethlehem, Pa.).
Henderson was additionally charged with certain persons not to possess
weapons. Blair was charged with three counts of possession of a handgun,
receiving stolen property and certain persons not to possess weapons.
All three individuals are being held in Linden municipal jail pending
the setting of bail. The investigation is being continued by the
Detective Bureau.
