On January 16, 2012 at 5:50 PM officers were sent to the Swan Motel, 301 E. Edgar Rd. on a report of a stolen vehicle. The victim, male, age 57, who is the motel manager, told police he was warming up his 2004 Mercedes Benz, silver, NJ plate SWANMGR, when a silver Mitsubishi pulled up next to it. A male passenger then exited the Mitsubishi and entered his Mercedes and drove it out of the lot followed by the Mitsubishi. The vehicles were last seen heading north on Routes 1&9 towards Elizabeth. The suspect was described as a black male. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate either vehicle. Detectives will review video surveillance footage for any leads.
