RE: Prescription Fraud Arrest

 

On January 4, 2012 at 10:35 PM officers responded to the Walgreens, 22 E. St. George Ave. on a man passing a fraudulent prescription. A pharmacist, male, age 36, told police that a man gave a prescription for promethazine with codeine and requested it be filled. The pharmacist contacted the issuing physician and was told the script was fraudulent. When officers arrived and the man was pointed out, he attempted to walk out of the store but was detained by Officer Javier Perez. The officer then informed Severe, of Brooklyn, N.Y.,  that he was under arrest when he (Severe) attempted to run out of the store causing Officer Perez to tackle him on the floor to subdue him. The officer suffered an injury to his groin area and was taken to Overlook Hospital for medical treatment. Mr. Severe was charged with forgery and resisting arrest and was transported to the Union County Jail in lieu of $4,000.00 bail with a court date set for January 11th.
