On June 22, 2010 at 4:27 PM officers were sent to the Linden Pathmark, 651 N. Stiles St., on a report of a shoplifter fleeing the store. Loss Prevention told officers that the suspect attempted to push a shopping cart filled with Red Bull energy drinks, valued at $340.00, out of the store without paying. When confronted, he fled the store. A suspect fitting the description was stopped on Ercama St. by Officers William Knapp and Michael Burnette. He was then identified by a store employee and placed under arrest. Arthur Jones, male, age 42, of Roselle, was charged with shoplifting and held on $2,500.00 bail pending a June 30^th court date at Union County Central Intake. Mr. Jones also was charged with two additional shoplifting warrants out of Linden with bail set at $28,000.00, and contempt warrants out of Rahway, Roselle, and Elizabeth. He was sent to the Union County Jail.
