On
April 3, 2010 at 10:40 AM officers responded to the Sears Essentials
store, 1701 W. Edgar Rd. on a report of a shoplifting. Officers spoke to
the victim, loss prevention, male, age 57, who stated that he observed a
man place 8 cans of baby formula in a shopping cart, place his
sweatshirt over the merchandise, and then push the cart out of store
without paying for the items. He confronted the male as he was entering
a 2008 Mazda 626, silver, and a struggle ensued. The suspect entered the
vehicle, and then, with the driver-door open, put the vehicle into
reverse, and the door knocked the victim to the ground, nearly running
him over. The suspect, described as a Hispanic male in his 20’s wearing
a white T-shirt and bluejeans, was accompanied by a female passenger.
The vehicle, NJ plate ZKA79H, was reported stolen from Union Township.
The victim recovered four of the cans of baby formula. He did not
require medical attention. Anyone with information can contact Detective
