On 2/20/2010 at 0236
hrs. a 1996 Mercury Villager minivan driven by Mona C. Johnson age 40 of
Linden, NJ, collided into the rear of a stopped cargo tanker in the
center southbound lane of Route 1 at the intersection of Avenue C. The
cargo tanker owned by Fuel Transport of Englishtown, NJ was carrying
8,500 gallons of gasoline and diesel fuel, none of which leaked. The
tractor was operated by Zviad Gogoladze age 39 of Philadelphia PA, who
was stopped for a red traffic light and was not injured.
The minivan struck the
rear of the tanker without any indication of braking. The driver was the
only occupant of the minivan and was not wearing a seat belt. She was
pronounced dead at the scene.
