On February 4, 2010 at 8:50 PM officers from the police department’s Narcotics Unit stopped a 2000 Ford Focus on the 100 block of E. St. Georges Ave. during the course of an investigation. The following occupants were placed under arrest: Shakil D. Johnson, male, age 19; George A. Bease, male, age 21; Antoine Myers, male, age 19; and Xavier M. Freeman, male, age 20, all of Linden. Recovered from the suspects were 40 bags of marijuana and 6 Percocet pills. Mr. Johnson and Mr. Freeman were both charged with possession and distribution of CDS, distribution within 500’ of Wilson Park and within 1000’ of Linden High School, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Mr. Myers was charged with possession of marijuana and Mr. Bease was charged with a contempt of court warrant. All of the suspects were released on summonses with a county court date set for February 17, 2010. Arresting officers were Det. Doug Fortuna and Lt. William Turbett. The investigation is part of a continuing citywide crackdown on illegal drug use and sales in response to citizen complaints.
