Council President

Welcome to the City of Linden’s website. I invite
everyone who comes to this site to take advantage of calling myself
or any of the other council members who appear on this site…. but
first let me tell you something about myself.
I am a life long resident of this great city and have been married
to my wife Lorraine for the last 50 years. We have four children who
have grown up in this city and went through the Linden school
system, and yes both my wife Lorraine and myself have gone through
the school system.
The first part of my life was spent in the 8th ward on Allen Street,
the second phase was spent in the 4th ward on Washington Avenue.
This section eventually became the third ward and after marriage and
my first born we settled down at 304 E. Elm Street where we have
lived for the last 44 years. Work in my early life consisted of
working for various electronic companies in the area. One of my most
memorable moments in my electronic career was to help build
electronic equipment that was installed at Cape Canaveral Florida
where the first astronaut Allan Shepherd spent the first 15 minutes
in space and came home safely. A truly amazing feat in those days.
While still in electronics, I decided to apply and take the civil
service test for the Linden Police Department. I was appointed to
the Police Department on July 1, 1962 and retired on July 1, 1992 as
a detective. Prior to retiring I ran for the office of councilman of
the 3rd ward and won in June 1992. I had worked in that capacity
until I took over the unexpired term of the late council president
George M. Milkosky, and have served in that position until the

Though this is a part time position I am usually in city hall
everyday to make sure all is running well. I meet with the mayor on
a regular basis to keep informed concerning the business that is
going on in the city. I am the Ad Hoc chairman of all
committees that are chaired by a council member and though I don’t
attend every one of them I make sure that I do attend most and the
others I drop in occasionally to make sure they are running
efficiently. You can check your local channel 36 to watch the
council meetings which are live on the 3rd Tuesday of each month.
After that they are telecast throughout the month until the next
live telecast.
