Councilwoman Rhashonna Cosby - Hurling will host the 2016 Annual Celebration of African American History on Thursday February 11, 2016 at the Linden Multi-Purpose Center, 1025 John St., from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The event will include historical information, poetry music and the recognition of notable local African Americans. Mayor Derek Armstead as the History Maker and Mr. Marshall Parker an unsung hero. Free light refreshments will be served.
Cosby-Hurling says, “It’s a wonderful night for the entire community, at our first event we only had five posters submitted, each year this event gets better and better. Prior to my taking office there was no black history program in the city of Linden. We as a community should embrace and celebrate the many contributions of our forefathers and acknowledge the efforts of African Americans who are today making history.”
