Councilwoman Cosby-Hurling, in partnership with the Division of Public Property and Consumer Affairs, will host the 5th Ward’s 5th Annual Celebration of African American History on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at the Linden Multi-Purpose Center, 1025 John St., from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Light refreshments will be served at the event, which will include historical information, poetry, music and the recognition of notable local African Americans. This year’s honorees are Donald Givens Sr. and Loretta Jones for their work in the communities of Union County.
Linden students are encouraged to submit original poems or essays about what "Black History Means To Me" to the Councilwoman no later than February 19th for a chance to win a cash prize. Submissions should be sent via email to firstname.lastname@example.org
